Que cambio? No estoy seguro, pero si estoy seguro que necesito algo nuevo. Algo diferente de lo normal.

Damn FB Nazi’s. OK, I admit my ads weren’t so legit. Since you laid the smack down on me and disabled my account, well…….have no fear, I will be back!

That is all.

Things Done Changed

Posted on: August 9th, 2010

I ask myself, is it truly over?

Oh, the old days. Damn I miss you. I miss the days where we used to take guys’ trips to Vegas and it was OK. Just my boys and I. Diving in fountains, gambling till 6 in the morning, acting a fool on the strip, drunk and high. Being young, dumb, and full of….(Steve, finish that off for me). Making awesome memories that I know we’ll look back on when we’re older and talking about the old days. But, I’m only 26. Are the old days really over?

Now all my boys either married or have kids. SIGH.

Things done changed.

Late night thoughts

So….

It’s been an interesting summer so far.

After my business partners and I decided to take a hiatus as a group back in March, I decided to take a break aka mini-vacation.

I spent most of my time relaxing and watching A LOT of basketball. My lakers won the championship which made the start of my summer that much sweeter. Then the world cup came and I pretty much watched every game. During this time I did some work and also waited for my LLC to be established. My goal was to resume my business activities of the past (affiliate marketing) on my own. Since then things have been picking up. I’m glad I finally decided to turn it up a notch and start dedicating myself fully to my business. Kinda wish I had started earlier….yet another lesson learned.

On the music front, I’ve been listening to a lot of Kings of Leon and The Black Keys lately. I remember first hearing about The Black Keys through my friend Gen. She had gone a concert with another friend and they showed up at Del Rio lanes and told us about it. Btw, I saw on FB that there’s a Black Keys concert coming up in September. I’ll be going to that for sure.

I recently attended a KOL concert with the homie Ruben. It was off the hook. Pics/vid to come. They performed so many songs and had the Hollywood bowl totally rocking.

Oh and for you Muse fans, don’t miss their tour this fall. I’ll have to def save up some cash to go see them. Seen them once before but my seats sucked. This time I was to be on the floor.

In lakerland, I’m pretty damn happy with the guys we’ve picked up. Solid PG Steve Blake and SG Matt Barnes. Watch out NBA. And to Miami, fuck you fools. Bring it on Prince James. I am sad that Chris Bosh is no longer the only player who looked like its mascot. He totally looked like a raptor.

Well I’m out for now. Peace out LA.

Lebron’s legacy still unwritten

Posted on: May 13th, 2010

No doubt about it, Lebron’s performance on Tuesday night against the Celtics raised lots of eyebrows. The media had a field day and the tweets have not stopped rolling in. On facebook, I was amused to see all the Lebron haters come out of the shadow and trash Lebron. Although I personally enjoyed seeing the “King” falter, I cannot help and think about how quickly things change in the world of sports.

One day you’re a hero. The next day, you’re nothing. But we should not be so quick to write off Lebron. The series isn’t even over and you already hear all this talk about Lebron going to NY, Chicago, NJ. Have we become so cynical that we don’t allow for players to have off days? No doubt about it, Lebron had a pretty horrible game. But it’s still 3-2.

Lebron has a chance today to go into Boston today and shut everybody up. Cleveland’s hopes of a championship rely on it. Being a hardcore Lakers fan, I would love nothing more (besides the Lakers winning the championship) than to see Lebron fail. Why? Because I love Kobe. Kobe’s my guy. I’ve witnessed Kobe’s ups, downs, and then some. I’ve seen just about every Lakers game played. Regardless of my bias towards my favorite NBA player there’s no doubt Lebron is amazing. Is he better than Kobe? Perhaps. Perhaps not. He’s younger, stronger, and a beast when he drives. There’s one charge I would never take. But Kobe is a champion. A champion that faltered many times in his career. But Kobe still has 4 rings that Lebron doesn’t. And although Kobe is a 4 time champion, can we really forget those times Kobe did not come through? Who remembers that game 7 in Phoenix where Kobe passed on every shot and was extremely passive. We were blown out that night. It was worse than Lebron’s Tuesday night game.

Tonight a new paragraph in the history of Lebron James will be written. He must win the next two games to keep his hopes of an NBA championship alive. If he doesn’t, well let the articles come rolling in. They won’t stop all off-season. The Lebron haters are going to have a field day. But score 40 tonight and lead your team to a W, Lebron, and you will be the hero once again. That’s how it is in this world of sports.

Not dead, just M.I.A.

Dear Blog,

I’m sorry for ignoring you. You know I have nothing but love for you. I’ve been ignoring you like I ignore doing my taxes. And although it’s not much of an excuse, I’m making the effort now to let you know I still love and care for you.

I updated my iPhone with the new WordPress app. Hopefully that will get me writing more. Less video games, more writing.

I’ll be back for more.

Love,

Dre

Turning it up a notch

Posted on: December 22nd, 2009

Taking some time to finally update the blog. December’s been a really busy month, but everything has been extremely productive. Our new project should be launching very very soon. The major change this month was to move our office to a more productive environment. I foresee that our work habit and productivity level will be optimal at the new spot. Why? Less distractions. I love my boys but it’s hard to work with friends, especially when other friends stop by and say what’s up.

It’s no secret that 2009 was a very fun year. Too fun. Now we’re making up for lost time by working about 14 hours a day. It starts taking a toll on you mentally and physically a bit but I like what I do so it’s not that bad. If I hated my job, well, I wouldn’t be doing it. Life’s short so you gotta do what makes you happy.

Basketball season is coming up and that’s always fun. I love basketball. I love being on the court, completely focused on the game, and taking my mind off other things. It’s a great way to let off steam and get your mind right. Honestly, there’s nothing like the feeling of hitting a nice 3 pointer. Doesn’t matter how many times I do it – it feels great every time. Last year I had a great game where I made 4 3 pointers and they gave me player of the week. That was the shit! I was on fire that day….felt great. This season I look forward to working on my ball handling skills and helping my team get to the playoffs. I know we can do it, but we have to practice. With everyone being so busy, it will be interesting to see how our bodies respond to limited practice time. I hope we can make the mental adjustments to make up for it.

This time is pretty much my favorite time of the year. College football bowl games. NFL wraps up with the Super Tazon, as they say on the mexican channels, just around the corner. Best of all: NBA basketball! This year my Lakers are playing great, but we have had a favorable home schedule. It will be interesting to see how they do on the road. So far they’ve held up but we did lose to Utah. Go lakers….

I hope next year I can have more free time to do new things. I want to learn to play an instrument. I want to travel more. I’d also like to do more activities that connect me with nature, such as camping. I’d like to follow all my passions, even the ones that are not too popular. I’ve been following the Zeitgeist Movement for a few months now and would like to see if I could contribute to it in any way.

Time to get back to work. Make it a great day friends. Remember to follow your passions, no matter what they are. Passion is fuel to the fire of success. Money will follow. Money’s not all that important anyway. Don’t get me wrong, we all need it to live, but money doesn’t give you happiness. So find that happiness and don’t let it get away.

Here’s to life, love, and all the wonderful things this world has to offer.

- Dre
